Seal Beach is a small beachside community located in Orange County, California. Seal Beach is tucked into the western most corner of Orange County. Seal Beach is bordered by San Pedro Bay on the northwest, Huntington Beach and Huntington Harbour on the southwest, Westminster and Garden Grove on the east, and Los Alamitos on the north. Long Beach in Los Angeles County is just northwest of Seal Beach. Seal Beach is 29 miles from Los Angeles and 102 miles from San Diego. The city encompasses 13.2 square miles. It was incorporated in 1915. In 1915, Seal Beach took its current name, prior the city was called Anaheim Landing and Bay City. The city has a population of approximately 25,000 people and is known as the “Friendly City.”

The elementary schools in the Los Alamitos School District include; McGaugh Elementary School, Hopkinson Elementary School, Rossmoor Elementary, Lee Elementary and Weaver Elementary School. There are two middle schools; Oak Middle School and McAuliffe Middle School. There is just one high school; Los Alamitos High School. There are 24 private schools in the area, including the blue ribbon award winning Orange County High School of the Arts to Santa Ana, which is now a charter school. Among the many other private schools are Liberty Christian, LePort School, Huntington Christian School and Grace Lutheran School.
Seal Beach has wonderful year round weather, with a Mediterranean style climate. Seal Beach has many outdoor activities for residents to enjoy. There is a public aquatics center, seven public tennis courts, soccer fields and 13 public parks. Many of the public parks offer a variety of activities and classes throughout the year. Seal Beach has the second longest wooden pier in California and is the social hub of the city. The Senior Center is very active with events, classes and activities throughout the year.
